1. When is the best time to measure blood glucose?

• Fasting Glucose: Test after fasting for 8–10 hours (water is allowed).
• Post-Meal Glucose: Measure 2 hours after starting a meal.

2. What is considered a normal blood glucose range?

• Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG):
  3.9–6.1 mmol/L (70–110 mg/dL)
• 2 Hours After Eating (Postprandial):
  3.9–7.8 mmol/L (70–140 mg/dL)

Unit Conversion Tip:

• To convert mmol/L → mg/dL, multiply by 18
• To convert mg/dL → mmol/L, divide by 18

3. Blood Sample Guidelines

• Ensure the alcohol has completely evaporated from the finger before collecting blood, as residual alcohol can alter results.
• Discard the first drop of blood, as it may be contaminated with tissue fluid.

4. How to Use the Glucometer

• Bring the blood drop close to the edge of the test strip, allowing proper absorption into the designated area.
• Position the strip so that blood is applied near the small suction port on the upper left.
• Tilt the meter at a 45-degree angle to guide the blood effectively into the test strip.

5. Accuracy and Error Margin

• Results may vary with a deviation of 15–20%.
• Factors such as improper handling, recent meals, and emotional state can impact accuracy.
• A deviation within 20% is considered acceptable and does not affect treatment decisions.
